The sole JPP representative in the Assembly of the Republic, Filipe Sousa, criticized the Prime Minister for making no reference to Madeira and the Azores during his State of the Nation address.
The parliamentarian stated that the silence reveals a "centralist" view of the country, noting that "there was not a single reference to the Autonomous Regions. Not a word about Madeira. Not a word about the Azores. As if almost half a million Portuguese simply did not exist".
Filipe Sousa considers this absence of mention not an oversight but a worrying political signal, particularly with unresolved issues such as air mobility, the regular sea link, and compensation for the costs of insularity. The JPP vows to continue intervening whenever the Republic's Government "chooses silence" regarding the Autonomous Regions.
