A delegation from the JPP party is on an institutional visit to the island of Jersey, invited by the local Madeiran community. During the trip, the party's delegation was received by the Bailiff of Jersey, Sir Robert MacRae, and the Minister for External Relations, Senator Ian Gorst.
The delegation, comprising Élvio Sousa, Mariusky Spínola, António Trindade, and Duarte Vieira, toured the Parliament of Jersey. The meeting aimed to analyze the reality of an island region with its own economic model and discuss topics such as fiscal policy, economic diversification, health, housing, and administrative organization.
Maritime connectivity was a key point of discussion, with Jersey's ferry link model highlighted as an example of leveraging the sea for mobility and economic dynamism. The JPP intends to consider this experience in its work towards a new economic and fiscal paradigm for Madeira.
The visit also served to acknowledge the strong integration of the Madeiran community in Jersey, whose role is recognized by local authorities. JPP representatives believe that diaspora communities should be viewed as permanent strategic partners of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
