JPP denounces waits exceeding five years for consultations and surgeries in Madeira

JPP Secretary-General Élvio Sousa denounced situations where waits for consultations, exams, or surgeries in Madeira's Regional Health Service exceed five years. Sousa described this reality as "unacceptable" and a reflection of the "incapacity of the PSD/CDS Regional Government" to meet the needs of Madeirans.

According to JPP, dedicated health professionals continue to face difficulties, leading to suffering and uncertainty for patients. The party pointed to cases of individuals with chronic pain, physical limitations, and illnesses affecting their quality of life and ability to work, deeming limited access to healthcare "inhumane."

The JPP proposes improvements in the management of the Regional Health Service, valuing professionals, increasing productivity, and combating waste. They also suggest creating a Charter of Patient Rights and a control system to inform about clinical priority and response times, arguing that the patient's interest should prevail over others.
