The JPP party conducted a working visit to Jersey, which it deemed an opportunity to engage with the local Madeiran community and their historical ties to Madeira. The contacts made allowed for the identification of emigrants' realities, concerns, and ambitions.
During this visit, it was announced that the JPP Emigrant Nucleus is entering a new phase with the establishment of local representatives. Duarte Vieira will take on this responsibility in Jersey, with plans to expand to London, South Africa, and other destinations with a significant Madeiran presence.
Élvio Sousa, JPP's Secretary-General, stated that the party advocates for Madeirans wherever they may be, without needing authorization from Lisbon. Mariusky Spínola, coordinator of the Emigrant Nucleus, detailed that the work will focus on understanding each community, identifying issues and needs, and transforming this information into concrete proposals presented to decision-making political bodies.
