The Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) councilors in Funchal Municipal Council questioned the PSD/CDS majority regarding the application criteria of the Municipal Master Plan (PDM).
Fátima Aveiro and António Trindade allege that the executive has used urban planning discretionarily, suspending the PDM to enable private and cooperative projects, but not for investments that could introduce competition to the food sector, such as Lidl.
The party argues that the lack of competition in the food sector penalizes families amidst high inflation and draws a parallel with the air transport sector, questioning why the same principle is not applied to lower food costs.
