CDU: European funds should meet Madeira's needs, not EU's impositions

MEP João Oliveira, elected for the CDU to the European Parliament, asserts that European funds should serve the needs of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, its economic and social development, and the improvement of the population's living conditions.

Oliveira believes that the mobilization of these funds must respond to the Region's concrete needs, without being subordinate to the European Commission's choices, which may contradict national interests and the development of ultra-peripheral regions.

The CDU proposes that the next multiannual financial framework (2028-2034) be strengthened to ensure Madeira has better access to funds, supporting productive sectors, regional enhancement, and job creation. The party also advocates for using these funds to solve social issues, such as housing, combating poverty and social exclusion.
