PS Warns of Lack of Contingency Plan for Fuel Supply

The Socialist Party (PS) in Madeira has warned about the absence of a regional contingency plan for fuel supply in scenarios of scarcity or severe supply disruptions. The proposal, discussed in the Legislative Assembly, aims to ensure a coordinated response and define access priorities.

Socialist deputy Gonçalo Leite Velho emphasized the need for the region to be prepared for "any circumstance" and criticized the lack of clear criteria for distribution during crises, questioning who would have priority access to fuel.

The proposal recommends the development and publication of a plan that identifies priority services, critical logistics, minimum supply levels, and coordination mechanisms, including a specific chapter for Porto Santo.

In response, Social Democrat deputy Rafael Carvalho deemed the diagnosis incorrect, stating that Madeira has sufficient reserves and has invested in energy diversification, thus increasing its resilience.
