The Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) party has denounced "evident signs of public space degradation" nine months into the mandate of the PSD/CDS majority in the Funchal Municipal Chamber (CMF).
The criticisms cover urban cleaning, public gardens, housing estates, and waste collection. JPP holds the CMF president politically responsible for failing to ensure one of the most basic duties of any municipality: a clean, safe, and dignified public space.
According to councilors Fátima Aveiro and António Trindade, the issue lies in an "inefficient" management model rather than a lack of financial resources. They advocate for an urban management strategy aligned with European policies for sustainable and resilient cities, focusing on citizens' quality of life.
