Bruno Melim, leader of the JSD (Social Democratic Youth), recalled that eight years ago, when he ran for leadership, predictions were of opposition, but today the PSD dominates power in the Region.
Melim addressed the challenge of generating more income and opportunities for new generations, attributing Madeira's development to its stance of not submitting to Lisbon, thus reviving the idea of autonomy.
The JSD leader emphasized that the new generation lives autonomy but is not made up of 'useful idiots,' and that there will be resistance against Lisbon whenever necessary to ensure a 'totally free' Madeira. He delivered an ideological speech to differentiate right from left and concluded by expressing honor in having led the JSD.
