'Little Ones' Hospital Returns to Teach Children to Overcome Fear of Doctors

The Madeira Youth Association of Medicine (AJEMed) is organizing the 10th edition of the 'Little Ones' Hospital from August 17-22. The initiative, held at the Madeira Press Museum in Câmara de Lobos, aims to demystify children's fear of medical appointments, healthcare professionals, and the hospital environment.

This year, children will take on the role of "doctors" for their stuffed animals, using a playful and educational approach. The goal is to provide a relaxed first contact with healthcare procedures and settings, thereby reducing anxiety.

August 21 and 22 are designated "Open Days" for families, with free admission. These days also feature a charitable component, encouraging donations of food items, toys, or clothing for institutions. Registration for the "Open Days" can be completed via a form.
