Elected PSD councilors in Machico's Municipal Chamber rejected the minutes of the last meeting, citing the socialist executive's refusal to record the opposition's contributions. In a statement, the PSD accuses the Executive of imposing an "institutional gag" regarding the Municipal Master Plan (PDM), whose revision has been ongoing for over 12 years, and the lack of applications for Social Housing funds.
The PSD claims the socialist executive attempted to conceal discussions on the PDM, which has hindered investment in Machico, and the housing crisis from the minutes. The Mayor committed to completing and approving the PDM by the end of March 2027, a deadline the PSD vows to monitor.
Furthermore, the PSD criticized the executive's alleged inertia in applying for public housing funds and the rejection of proposals for the urban enhancement of the Desembarcadouro area, deeming these actions indicative of serious public management failures.
