The Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Crafts Institute (IVBAM) is participating in the 3rd edition of the Arts & Crafts Biennial | New Design, taking place in Oeiras until Sunday. The initiative aims to increase visibility for regional work and demonstrate how traditional crafts can blend identity with contemporary expression.
Two distinct approaches to Madeira Embroidery are showcased: Bordal presents pieces that combine tradition with new applications in fashion and decoration, through collaborations with designers. The Flor de Lis brand, by artisan Lisandra Pereira, draws inspiration from embroidery to create new pieces in cold ceramic.
IVBAM thus seeks to demonstrate pathways for the valorization of Madeira Embroidery, maintaining traditional quality and craftsmanship while exploring new applications and languages. The event offers an opportunity to promote the embroidery to new audiences.
