Madeira's new Free Trade Zone regime has taken a decisive step forward, with the methodology and principles guiding the future model now agreed between the Regional Government and the European Commission. This was announced by the Regional Secretary for Finance, Duarte Freitas.

The process has now entered a dialogue phase with the Republic's Government for the new framework to be transposed into national legislation. The aim is for the decree to be published by December 31st of this year, preventing any interruption in the licensing of new entities.

Duarte Freitas emphasized the strategic importance of this instrument for the regional economy, highlighting its contribution to creating skilled employment, increasing added value, and fostering business dynamism.
