The 11 municipalities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira will now have an Urban Management Platform, a technological tool developed to improve the management of various municipal services, from water resources to waste, fleet management, green spaces, and public parking.
The project, presented at the Funchal Cultural and Research Center, represents an investment of 1.6 million euros, 100% financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). The platform will enable municipalities to make decisions based on real-time information collected by sensors, making service delivery more efficient and reducing costs.
Examples include managing public garden irrigation and street lighting, which can be adjusted based on actual needs detected by sensors, promoting more rational resource use. The platform is in the final stages of implementation and is expected to become operational by the end of this month.
