The Madeira Regional Administration (ARM) had 20,912 jobs at the end of the second quarter of 2026, once again falling below the threshold of 21,000 employees. This figure represents a decrease of 38 jobs compared to the previous quarter, a reduction of 0.2%.
Compared to June 2025, the ARM lost 110 jobs (-0.5%). The year-on-year reduction is mainly due to a decrease in operational assistants and teaching staff, although there were increases in categories such as nurses and senior technicians.
Teaching staff remain the largest professional group, accounting for 27.4% of the total. Primary and Secondary Education Establishments concentrate 39.1% of the jobs. Despite the reduction in employees, average salaries increased by over 5% year-on-year.
