The Madeira Regional Government has refuted criticism from the JPP concerning support for the Madeiran community in Venezuela, deeming it unacceptable for a party that has "never done anything concrete" to lecture those who were "on the front lines from the first hour."
In response to accusations of inaction, the Madeiran executive clarified that it mobilized the competent services immediately after the earthquakes and allocated an exceptional sum of 150,000 euros to Madeiran associations in the country. This amount, resulting from increased support for diaspora associations, will be fully channeled this year to the Venezuelan community.
The Government emphasized that the aid is following the necessary legal and bureaucratic procedures, with the Regional Directorate for Communities and Economic Cooperation preparing program contracts as associations submit the required documentation. The department assured that public funds will be managed with rigor and transparency, ensuring that the process's speed remains a priority, as "Madeira does not forget those who left."
