The JPP criticizes the Regional Government for not yet fulfilling its promise of €150,000 for victims of earthquakes in Venezuela.

JPP Accuses Regional Government of Delaying Promised Aid to Venezuelan Earthquake Victims

JPP Secretary-General Élvio Sousa has accused the Regional Government of Madeira of failing to deliver on its promise of €150,000 in financial aid to victims of earthquakes in Venezuela.

According to Sousa, nearly two months after the announcement made on July 10th, "not a single euro" has reached the organizations on the ground. After contacting community representatives in Caracas and local officials, Élvio Sousa described the delay as "a tremendous lack of consideration and credibility" towards the Luso-Venezuelan community.

The deputy emphasized the need for swift social support, recalling his experience in disaster situations in Madeira. For the JPP, the failure to fulfill the promise undermines the effectiveness of regional institutions and worsens the situation for affected families.
