The ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira recorded an increase in cargo and cruise passenger movement in the first half of 2026. Between January and June, 199 cruise ships docked in the region, an increase of 28 vessels compared to the same period in 2025.
The number of transit passengers reached 443,355, representing a year-on-year growth of 18.5%. Funchal Port handled the majority, with 440,608 passengers. Germans and British led the nationalities, with notable growth from Italian, Spanish, Polish, and Austrian passengers. The American market also showed an increase.
Cargo movement in RAM ports rose by 4.9% in the first semester, with growth in both unloaded (+5.3%) and loaded (+1.5%) goods. The Madeira-Porto Santo ferry service transported approximately 153,400 passengers, a 4.8% increase.
