In Madeira, withdrawals and purchases through the SIBS network amounted to €814.3 million in the second quarter of 2026, a 4.8% year-on-year increase. This figure represents 2.7% of the national total and reflects a growth trend driven by an increase in purchases via point-of-sale (POS) terminals, which rose by 7.5%, while cash withdrawals decreased by 4.0%.

POS purchases totalled €639.1 million, with national cards showing an 8.6% increase and international cards a 4.9% rise. In-person purchases dominated, accounting for 94.6% of the total with an 8.3% increase, while online purchases saw a 4.9% decrease.

Funchal led transactions, accounting for 60.1% of the regional total and showing a 5.4% growth. Conversely, Porto Moniz recorded the lowest transaction volume and a 6.4% decrease. For the year to date, Madeira has already processed €1.5 billion in SIBS network transactions.
