Madeira island and Porto Santo are under an orange alert due to predicted high temperatures, expected to last until 6 PM today. The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) reported that the alert covers the north and south coasts of Madeira and Porto Santo, due to persistent high maximum temperatures.
In the island's mountainous areas, a yellow alert will be in effect until 6 PM on Saturday. The north and south coasts of Madeira and Porto Santo will also remain under a yellow alert until 6 PM on Saturday, due to the forecast of hot weather.
