Monte, in Madeira, recorded the highest temperature of the year on the island, with 34.3 ºC registered at 2:20 PM on September 24, 2026. This value surpasses the previous record of 33.1 ºC, establishing a new maximum for 2026.
The heatwave affected much of the island, with 13 out of 20 IPMA weather stations recording temperatures of 30 ºC or higher. Other notable temperatures included Prazeres (33.1 ºC), Funchal/Observatório (33.0 ºC), and Santana (32.0 ºC).
