Miguel Castro, a deputy in the Madeira Regional Legislative Assembly, shared images on his personal Facebook page showing the impact of depression Bruna on facilities on the Desertas islands.
In his post, the deputy said he had hoped the Vigilantes da Natureza (nature wardens) would be withdrawn before the storm arrived, stressing that protecting human life is the most important thing. He said the images he received indicate that the wardens had not been withdrawn in time.
Castro also wished everyone well and sent words of support.
