The Minister of Education, Fernando Alexandre, has stated that the new external evaluation system, featuring digitized exams and electronic grading, makes assessments "fairer" and more equitable.
However, many students are experiencing uncertainty with "suspended" grades lacking concrete explanations. This situation disadvantages them, as they are unsure whether to proceed to the second exam phase or how their results will impact higher education applications with strict deadlines.
The lack of information compels many to register for the second phase as a precaution, increasing pressure and effort. The promise of "equity" and "fairness" is undermined as long as these cases of suspended grades are not resolved clearly and promptly for all students.
