The New Right party has expressed concern over the quality of horticultural products found in Madeira's supermarkets, questioning the oversight of the Regional Authority for Economic Activities (ARAE).
According to the party, during a visit to commercial establishments to assess the impact of rising prices, vegetables were discovered in conditions that raised doubts about their suitability for sale. The party claims to have documented the situation with photographs.
Jorge Luz, representing the New Right, questioned the effectiveness of inspections and the protection of consumers on Madeira. He requested that ARAE inspect the locations, verify the product conditions, and clarify any measures taken if irregularities are confirmed. The party also called for greater transparency in inspection activities and noted that a previous meeting request from regional coordinator Paulo Azevedo to ARAE has not yet been answered.
