The Socialist Party (PS) will propose in the Municipal Assembly of Câmara de Lobos that half of the annual revenue from the tourist tax be dedicated to supporting local farmers and preserving the agricultural landscape.
The initiative foresees the creation of a Municipal Fund for the Support of Preservation and Valorization of the Agricultural Landscape, financed with 50% of the collected revenues. The aim is to support interventions such as the repair of supporting walls, the cleaning of irrigation channels, and the maintenance of agricultural paths.
Socialists argue that traditional terraces and irrigation channels are important landscape elements contributing to the municipality's tourist appeal. The proposal also includes the annual transparent disclosure of collected amounts and funds allocated to the initiative.
