Nova Direita has criticized how the Regional Government has presented the decrease in unemployment in Madeira, accusing it of "whitewashing" the figures through temporary worker programs.
Paulo Azevedo, the party's regional coordinator, stated that these initiatives, which place individuals in parish councils and other entities, remove them from unemployment lists without guaranteeing stability or a future. According to the party, many return to unemployment after these programs end, which they consider "labor exploitation" that does not solve the region's structural problems.
Nova Direita advocates for ending these precarious programs and promoting employment policies with rights, fair pay, and dignity, alongside attracting investment and supporting businesses to create sustainable jobs. The party holds the Regional Government responsible for focusing on indicators instead of solving Madeira's issues, asserting that Madeirans "live on salaries, stability, and opportunities," not statistics.
