The PS-Madeira Parliamentary Group has submitted a request to the Legislative Assembly demanding clarification from the Regional Government regarding the revocation of the project to create a Pediatric Integrated Continuous Care Unit.
This unit, with a capacity for 12 beds, was planned under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and involved an investment of 1.128 million euros. Deputy Marta Freitas considers this decision a missed opportunity to strengthen the Region's response to children and young people with complex chronic illnesses.
The PS highlights that this is not an isolated situation, recalling the loss of approximately 400 places in residential structures for the elderly and 141 beds in the Regional Integrated Continuous Care Network. The lack of planned investment in the 'Madeira 2030' program for this pediatric service exacerbates the situation, according to the party.
