Nova Direita/Madeira has voiced concerns over reports from Madeiran entrepreneurs regarding the alleged fraudulent use of employment contracts by foreign citizens.
According to the party, some situations involve workers who, after signing a contract, stop showing up for work but still demand wages, sometimes with threats. Situations where workers perform duties at a location different from the one declared in the contract were also mentioned.
Nova Direita coordinator Paulo Azevedo urged AIMA and the Regional Labour Inspectorate to conduct rigorous checks to verify the authenticity and effectiveness of employment relationships, emphasizing that the law must be followed by everyone.
