The Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) party has reiterated its demand for the requalification of Porto Novo Valley in Gaula, accusing the Regional Government of failing to implement projects and promises for the area over more than two decades.
During a site visit, the president of the Gaula Parish Council, Andreia Gouveia, highlighted the area's degraded state, citing "litter, scrap metal, abandoned boats, dilapidated structures, and unmaintained vegetation." The JPP notes that intervention plans date back to at least the year 2000.
Andreia Gouveia stated that Porto Novo Valley "symbolizes over 20 years of projects, promises, announcements, and demands," advocating for a "serious, structured, and integrated" intervention to restore the space and return it to the public with dignity and quality.
