Nova Direita has voiced criticism regarding alterations to the organization of the Machico Gastronomic Festival, implemented by the Municipal Council.
The party stated that merchants and exhibitors reported discontent with the changes, which they believe have not improved the event and have led to a loss of its identity, resulting in fewer visitors.
Paulo Azevedo, Nova Direita's coordinator in Madeira, advocates for a return to the festival's gastronomic and cultural roots, criticizing the current program's focus on concerts over local traditions and the quality of food offerings.
