The Portuguese Navy vessel NRP Zaire seized approximately two tons of dried yellowfin tuna that were not listed in the records of an artisanal fishing boat.
The inspection operation took place in the maritime zone of Madeira at 1:00 AM on September 14. The vessel was escorted to the port of Caniçal for further checks.
A total of 2,011 kg of dried yellowfin tuna were weighed at the Caniçal fish market. The competent authorities are now reviewing the facts to determine the applicable legal measures.
