The Legislative Assembly of Madeira debated the need to distinguish and value Civil Protection. Generally, the opposition agrees with the objective but points out flaws in the proposal.
Sara Madalena (CDS) highlighted the need to also recognize individuals who risk their lives to save others, not just institutions. Miguel Castro questioned the criteria for awarding distinctions, advocating for greater legislative rigor.
Hugo Nunes (CH) criticized the proposal as "13 pages of PSD bureaucracy," contrasting the haste for symbolic tributes with the lack of agility in improving firefighters' working conditions. Joana Silva (PSD) reminded that the proposal covers all of Civil Protection, not limited to firefighters.
