More than 100 kilograms of waste were removed from the coastline and seabed in Caniçal during a coastal and underwater cleanup action.
The initiative, promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture, involved collaboration with the Oceano Azul Foundation and gathered over 35 participants, including 12 divers.
Held as part of the World Coastal Cleanup Day 2026 celebrations, the event aimed to protect the marine environment and reduce waste in the ocean. Various public and private entities, including the GNR, Madeira Volunteer Firefighters, and the Oceano Azul Foundation, participated in the operation.
