The People - Animals - Nature (PAN) party is launching the 'Climate Route' initiative in Madeira next Thursday, September 17th. The event aims to promote debate on climate change and territorial responses to extreme phenomena.
The first meeting, held at the Colégio dos Jesuítas, will bring together representatives from academia, politics, and civil society. The objective is to discuss how island territories can transform global climate challenges into concrete local responses. Inês de Sousa Real, national spokesperson for PAN, emphasized the importance of being close to the population to find efficient solutions and adapt Portugal to the effects of climate change.
The event will feature Mónica Freitas, spokesperson for PAN Madeira, and Rui Alexandre Castanho, ambassador for the European Climate Pact. Throughout three panels, various specialists will address the need to involve academia and citizens in political decision-making, particularly regarding environmental protection and energy transition.
