The Regional Directorate of the PCP has denounced what it considers a "brutal offensive" against workers' rights, which degrades living conditions and jeopardizes the future of workers, women, youth, and children in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and in the country.
In a meeting, the PCP pointed to examples such as rising housing costs and rents, speculation, and bank profits, attributing responsibility to the PSD/CDS government. The communists accuse the government of having a plan to "destroy workers' rights, liquidate public administration, and raid social security," with the support of Chega and IL, and the abstention of the PS.
The party highlighted the workers' struggle as decisive for the vote in the Assembly of the Republic that ended the Labour Package of the PSD/CDS Government and employers. For the PCP, the strength of the workers can defeat the current government policy, paving the way for a patriotic and left-wing alternative.
