PCP presents 22 amendments to the 2027 State Budget aimed at Madeira

The PCP in Madeira proposes 22 amendments to the 2027 State Budget, covering housing, transport and wages for the region.

The Madeira regional leadership of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), meeting on 7 November 2026, said rising living costs, energy prices and housing expenses are worsening living conditions across the archipelago.

The party criticises the 2027 State Budget, approved in principle with the votes of the PSD and CDS and the abstention of the PS, and has tabled 22 amendments specific to the Autonomous Region of Madeira for the detailed debate. They include an extraordinary housing support measure, an improved mobility allowance and guaranteed regular passenger sea transport between the region and mainland Portugal.

The party also points to upcoming protests: housing rallies on 14 November and a public administration general strike on 20 November.
