Pedro Coelho Highlights Increased State Transfers to Madeira in OE2027

MP Pedro Coelho (PSD) highlighted the increase in state financial transfers to the Autonomous Region of Madeira, funding for the new Central and University Hospital of Madeira, and the reinforcement of regional debt reduction mechanisms, as outlined in the State Budget proposal for 2027.

Coelho believes the proposal reflects commitments made during a recent meeting between the Regional Government President, Miguel Albuquerque, and Prime Minister Luís Montenegro. Transfers under Article 48 of the Law on the Finances of Autonomous Regions will rise from €214.4 million in 2026 to €228.7 million in 2027, an increase of €14.3 million. An extraordinary transfer of €79.9 million to compensate for the non-application of the Cohesion Fund also remains.

Furthermore, the extraordinary transfer for regional debt reduction increases from €75 million in 2026 to €82 million in 2027. The MP emphasized that this boost alleviates the Region's financial responsibilities, allowing for greater capacity to address needs in health, education, and public investment. Funding for employment and vocational training policies also grows, and the state will cover 50% of the financing for the new Central and University Hospital of Madeira, with €28.5 million allocated for 2027.
