The petition, titled 'For the Safeguarding of Madeira's Urban Model' and spearheaded by former deputy Nuno Morna, has been officially accepted by the Legislative Assembly of Madeira.
The initiative has been forwarded for examination to the 3rd Permanent Specialized Committee on Environment, Climate, and Natural Resources. The petition's promoter confirmed receiving official notification, marking the beginning of its parliamentary journey, while clarifying that admission does not equate to acceptance of its proposals.
The petition seeks to initiate a debate on high-rise construction and the preservation of Madeira's urban model, advocating for these issues to be discussed within the Regional Parliament. Nuno Morna expressed gratitude for public support and emphasized the need for debate and planning to ensure the region's future respects its landscape and quality of life.
