The Polícia Judiciária (PJ), through its Criminal Investigation Department in Madeira, arrested a 33-year-old man on July 20.
The individual, a primary school teacher, is strongly suspected of committing child sexual abuse at an educational establishment in Funchal.
An investigation was launched in February following a complaint, and sufficient evidence was gathered for the arrest. The detainee will appear for a judicial hearing to determine coercive measures.
