The Mayor of Ponta do Sol, Rui Marques, has blamed the Socialist Party (PS) and its regional leader for the potential exclusion of the new PSP police station investment from the upcoming State Budget.
Marques stated that the socialists' recent actions are creating "doubts and uncertainty" at a crucial time for securing funding from the Republic's Government. He appealed for the process not to be turned into a political party dispute, asking opponents to "let us work" to realize an investment demanded by the population and security forces.
The mayor recalled that the first tender for the project was unsuccessful and that the Council is working with the Government to ensure financial framework. Rui Marques reiterated the desire for "a new PSP police station, built and serving our population," concluding that "there are not two Ponta do Sols. There is only one Ponta do Sol."
