The Socialist Party (PS) in Ponta do Sol has demanded more clarity and certainty from the Regional Government regarding the construction of the Express Road between the town and Canhas, a project promised since 2009.
During the 525th-anniversary ceremony of the municipality, PS representative Sidónio Pestana requested the public presentation of the project, its route, and the intervention timeline. Pestana also questioned the increased estimated cost for the new PSP police station, which rose from approximately 2.6 million to 4.1 million euros, without significant changes to the initial project being apparent.
The PS also called on the Regional Government to complete other works, including the renaturalization of the Lugar de Baixo marina, the promenade between Tabua and the town, and the recovery of local infrastructure. Sidónio Pestana warned that electoral promises must be kept and that modernizing the town should not compromise its identity and heritage.
