Porto Santo celebrated the 30th anniversary of City Day with a solemn session focused on education and youth. Alice Brito and Alexandre Ornelas, former students who returned after completing higher education, were presented as inspiring examples for new generations.
Both shared their academic and professional experiences, emphasizing the importance of dedication and returning to their hometown to apply acquired knowledge for the community's benefit. The ceremony also recognized students for academic and sports merit, and presented the results of the Youth Participatory Budget.
Mayor Nuno Batista stressed that the celebration aims to affirm the island's future in its children and youth, providing them with the best conditions to grow and achieve their dreams. The return of young professionals to the island was highlighted as a sign of hope and an incentive for investment in education and local development.
