The Center for Support of Child Development (CRESCER) is organizing an awareness event in Porto Santo titled 'From Thought to Words – Language and Executive Functions: Essential Processes for Learning'. The event, free to attend with prior registration, will take place at the Auditorium of the Porto Santo Municipal Council.
The initiative is aimed at parents, guardians, teachers, educators, health professionals, and anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of child development and the factors influencing learning and school success. The session will include an intervention by councilor Mariana Vasconcelos and will be led by Ana Marques, a speech therapist, and Carolina Abreu, a clinical psychologist.
Topics will include the importance of language and executive functions in child development, warning signs for difficulties, and practical strategies for home, school, and therapeutic settings. This event is part of CRESCER's intervention plan in Porto Santo, in partnership with the Nossa Senhora da Piedade Foundation, aiming to bring specialized support closer to the island's population and promote more equitable access to child health and development care.
