The REAGIR party has criticized the solution presented by the Regional Government for so-called 'problematic discharges', stating that it merely shifts pressure from Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital to health centers.
According to a statement signed by regional coordinator Liana Reis, the origin of the problem lies in the insufficiency of social responses in Madeira, specifically the lack of places in Residential Structures for the Elderly (ERPI), the Integrated Continuing Care Network, and home support.
REAGIR finds it "incomprehensible" that the government has focused the solution on SESARAM, sidelining the Regional Secretariat for Inclusion and Social Security. The party also points to a lack of human resources within SESARAM as a risk, potentially leading to a mere displacement of overload between services without solving the structural issue.
