The Portuguese animal rescue group IRA (Intervention and Animal Rescue) has deployed to Ávila, Spain, to assist animals affected by the wildfires ravaging the country.
In collaboration with the Spanish Civil Guard, IRA teams are surveying the most impacted areas to locate and rescue animals that are injured, burned, or isolated by the flames. The group also provides initial veterinary first aid on-site when necessary, before evacuating the animals to safe locations.
The operation aims to alleviate animal suffering amidst the devastation, highlighting the often-overlooked impact of these catastrophes on animal lives.
