The People's Monarchist Party (PPM) of Madeira has voiced concern regarding the news about the Funchal City Council's intention to construct a bus terminal in the Ribeira de João Gomes riverbed.
The party questions the choice of location, recalling that over the years, several homes were removed from areas adjacent to riverbeds due to safety and flood prevention issues. PPM Madeira considers the installation of such an infrastructure in a risk area contradictory.
As an alternative, PPM regional coordinator Paulo Brito suggests the terminal be built near the current Rodoeste company facilities, proposing the relocation of the transport company's workshops to an industrial zone.
