Praia Formosa Promenade: Temporary Reinforcements to Ensure Safety

The Praia Formosa promenade, near Cimentos Madeira, will receive temporary reinforcements due to signs of pavement subsidence, with work to begin shortly.

The Praia Formosa – Socorridos Maritime Promenade, in the section next to Cimentos Madeira, will undergo temporary reinforcement work in the coming days. This action follows the identification of pavement subsidence signs, which led to the preventive closure of Section 3.

The intervention, expected to last approximately three weeks, aims to reduce the risk of collapse and enable the safe reopening of the area. A technical assessment of the structure was conducted in collaboration with the Regional Laboratory of Civil Engineering (LREC) to determine necessary measures.

This reinforcement is the first phase of a broader requalification strategy for the promenade, with future phases estimated to cost 3.3 million euros. The goal is to ensure user safety and maintain the public space.
