Vigiarte Lda. has issued a clarification regarding the work on the Jardim do Mar promenade, which had been questioned by the Nova Direita party. According to the company, the project is not abandoned but suspended.
A landslip during excavation led to a judicial embargo in June 2023. After work resumed in November 2023, disagreements arose with the contracted construction company, resulting in ongoing legal proceedings that prevent the continuation of the project.
The company also stated that due to the suspension and failure to meet deadlines, it lost European funding from the Valorizar 14-20 program and is returning the support received. Vigiarte Lda. regrets the public exposure and notes that the project included an art gallery, a studio, and a restaurant.
