The IPMA (Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere) weather station in Prazeres registered the highest temperature in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, reaching 32.5ºC by midday on Friday. This occurred within a context of persistent heat affecting several parts of the island.
Besides Prazeres, other weather stations exceeded 30ºC, notably Quinta Grande (31.7ºC), Monte (31.2ºC), Santo da Serra (30.6ºC), and Cancela/SRPC (30.0ºC). The lowest temperature recorded was 19.7ºC in Ponta do Pargo, the only station below 20ºC.
Average altitudes on the island showed the highest temperature values, reinforcing a pattern of more significant heat between the coastal strip and intermediate zones. The previous night was described as tropical in several stations, with minimum temperatures not dropping below 22ºC, even at altitudes above 1000 meters.
