The Proinfância program, in partnership with the "la Caixa" Foundation, will distribute school supply kits to over 1,400 children and young people in vulnerable situations. The initiative aims to support families at the start of the 2026/2027 academic year.
The kits, including backpacks and age-appropriate materials, are designed for preschool, primary, and secondary education levels. The Proinfância program, active in Funchal and 13 other Portuguese municipalities, annually supports around 1,000 families with educational and psychological support, speech therapy, and assistance with various needs.
According to the Foundation, one in five children in Portugal is at risk of poverty or social exclusion. In 2025, Proinfância represented an investment of approximately 2.1 million euros in the country.
